Za slepými odbočkami většinou stáli svéhlaví konstruktéři, kteří založili vlastní dílny na výrobu automobilů či motocyklů a nedokázali své většinou drahé výrobky prosadit na trhu. Typickým příkladem může být firma Albina Huga Liebische (1888 – 1965) produkující nezvyklé motocykly Čechie – Böhmerland.
S jejich výrobou začal Liebisch (1925) v dílně a garážích u vily svého zaměstnavatele a přítele Alfreda Hielleho v Krásné Lípě. Bohatý Hielle byl motoristickým nadšencem a poměrně úspěšným automobilovým závodníkem, který před Liebischem finančně vypomohl Ettore Bugattimu při zakládání své slavné automobilky. Poté, co se Hielle rozhodl rodinné sídlo v Krásné Lípě prodat a severní Čechy opustit, zakoupil Liebisch (opět s Hielleho finanční pomocí) v roce 1931 malý závod na zemědělské stroje v Kunraticích u Šluknova.
V letech 1925 - 1939 svérázný podnikatel vyvinul a vyráběl několik typů motocyklů poháněných motory vlastní konstrukce. Celkově mohlo být vyrobeno nanejvýš 800 kusů strojů, které byly majiteli běžných sériově vyráběných motocyklů označovány jako „pojízdná lavice“, „motorový jezevčík“ či „splašené lešení“.
Blind alleys were generally the domain of obstinate inventors who built their own workshops but never quite succeeded in finding a market for their (often expensive) products. Albin Hugo Liebisch (1888-1965) and his peculiar Čechie-Böhmerland motorcycle are one case in point.
Liebisch set up shop in 1925 in his employer’s garage in Krásná Lípa. His patron, the wealthy Alfred Hielle, was a motor enthusiast and a moderately successful racecar driver. Before his involvement with Liebisch, he helped Ettore Bugatti finance his legendary automobile works. When Hielle chose to sell his estate in Krásná Lípa and leave northern Bohemia, he helped Liebisch buy (1931) a small factory for farm equipment in Kunratice near Šluknov.
From 1925 to 1939 the unorthodox Liebisch developed several motorcycles driven by engines of his own design. In all maybe 800 machines hit the streets, scoffed at by mainstream bikers as “benches on wheels,” “motorized dachshunds,” or “skittish scaffolding.”
